We’re partial to both Sniper Elite and VR games here at Codec Moments, and who’d have thought it could get better than Sniper Elite VR? It’s about to by extending the story started in the first VR title and bringing some new ideas to the series with Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior. Setting itself in Italy again, you’re donning the coveralls of The Partisan as they rid their beloved country of the Nazi menace. Promising a full campaign that explores the discovery and destruction of Nazi “wonder-weapons”, you’ll visit a decidedly colder climate than the previous outing, and it looks no less inviting despite that.
Not only does Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior bring the full single player mode, there are a couple of new game types to get to grips with as well. Sniper Hunt is billed as an intense game of cat and mouse where you need to avoid and takedown Nazi snipers, with the premise being to draw the enemy out by taking down patrols, then resupplying and relocating to keep prevent discovery. Then there’s Last Stand which is wave based and sounds like it plays out as you’d expect – survive against hordes of Third Reich intent on ending your resistance. Knowing what the last game was like in VR, this promises to be a step on with new hardware, and should be fantastic fun. The only piece we don’t know right now is whether it’ll eventually port to other VR platforms, and we’ll keep our fingers crossed there.
Developed by Rebellion in partnership with Just Add Water, Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior will be releasing on the Oculus Quest 2, 3 and Pro headsets on the 30th November, priced very reasonably at around £11.
