Q.U.B.E.: Directors Cut Taxing You Soon

Q.U.B.E… not just a crazy spelling of cube, it actually has a meaning – Quick Understanding of Block Extrusion; is not a new title because it’s been on PC since the end of 2011.  It’s hitting the news recently because the console version is about to arrive on PS3, PS4 and Xbox One.  Originally developed by Toxic Games, this version is being published by Grip Games and is a new edition with added story elements, speedrun trials and a new musical score.  Well, not completely new, it was released on PC around a year ago.  But what’s it all about?

Waking up in a strange spaceship, you have to uncover the secrets of where you are and figure out your way home through interacting with the environment.  Utilising special gloves, you manipulate the environment in various ways to forge a path to your exit, and it’s been compared favourably to Portal because of the physics based brain teasers.  Your logic, reactions and precision will be tested over a variety of platforming challenges, 3D jigsaws and collectables.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a puzzle game that’s intrigued me as much as Q.U.B.E. has from the trailer, here’s hoping it’ll engage and entertain all the way through.

Q.U.B.E. will be released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 on the 21st July, and Xbox One on 24th July and will be priced at $9.99/€9.99.
