More Battlefield 2042 Maps Revealed

Battlefield 2042 Maps

It’s not long now is it… just under 3 weeks until Battlefield 2042 releases and everyone gets to revel in the tactical planning that descends into chaos of 64 to 128 player online battles.  There’s been plenty of info on how the game plays, especially after the beta recently, and some slightly negative press on performance, but we’re still hopeful that Dice will deliver on a unique and engrossing experience.  In anticipation of the launch and letting gamers know what they can expect, EA have thrown out a video and info on the 3 new Battlefield 2042 maps that will be available at launch, so what are they like?

Each of the revealed Battlefield 2042 maps in the latest video has been tailored to bring out the best in verticality, close quarters and objective based gameplay, and they are available through all the game modes as well.  The dynamic destruction is something we’re particularly looking forward to experiencing first hand, and what we’ll be able to create in the Battlefield Portal mode in the Antarctica level could make for some really memorable gaming moments.  More info on the concept and characteristics of the maps has been provided by the Dice team:

  • Renewal is an eclectic landscape set in an Egyptian desert with a solar array Power Station on one side and a lush Research Facility on the other.  It features a wall between both regions with various entry points, including a choke point through the often-contested Entry Checkpoint in Conquest in the middle of the map.  Players should also come prepared for close quarters battles in these areas as well as both of the buildings located within Renewal.
  • Breakaway set in Antarctica, includes an Offshore Platform off the Frozen Coast, as well as an Outlook Station perched high above the battlefield making it a focal point for air battles.  In the fractured paths of the Glacier, players fight in and above the ice cliffs that are connected with zip lines and rope bridges, and where the quick use of a parachute could be the difference between life or death.
  • Discarded features a flooded village along India’s west coast, disassembled hull and a Colossus Ship to explore.  This map features lots of cover and close quarters combat; the Colossus Ship lets players fight inside its craft while airships attack from above and tanks pummel its hull.  With unpredictable weather, players will have to stay on their toes as the threat of a tornado could strike the map at any moment.

Battlefield 2042 is out on the 19th November 2021, with early access players getting on board from the 12th, across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X, and we’ll be joining the fight then.
