It’s finally official, heists are coming to GTA Online early 2015… which is a shame if, like us, you were hoping they’d be out on 23rd Dec as rumoured, allowing us to get our thief on over the Christmas holidays.
By the sound of it, it was no mean feat. In an exclusive interview with IGN, GTA Online’s producer and lead mission designer Imran Sarwar, said: “To be honest, they just turned out to be a lot more difficult than we originally thought. Our initial idea was to build on the concept of Story Mode heists to make a new gameplay experience for GTA Online that was more focused on cooperation, where everyone could play to their individual strengths and feel like they had a stake in the outcome.”
Still early 2015 is better than… never, which is the draw I had in the office sweepstake over when they would arrive; the best news is, Rockstar have confirmed that “Heists will be coming as a free update to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC“. Here’s the official trailer and Rockstar’s brief bit of bumph is included below:
“GTA Online Heists are coming early in 2015 – check out the new trailer for the four-player co-op mode for Grand Theft Auto Online that allows players to plan, prepare and execute multi-tiered Heists across Los Santos and Blaine County. These will require tight communication and coordination, with players taking on specified roles at each point to accomplish multiple objectives on the way to each Heist’s epic finale. Featuring new gameplay, new vehicles, new weapons, new clothing and much more.”
