Deep Silver has released new media today for they upcoming expansion to Saints Row series – Gat Out Of Hell. The walkthrough, presented by Jim Boone from Volition, follows what you can expect to experience as Johnny Gat on his trip through Hell when it comes out at the beginning of 2015.
The style and substance of the previous games looks to be kept from what’s shown here, the over-the-top violence, well-balanced slapstick/brawdy humour, and the use of unconventional weapons all come back. In particular, whilst the armchair-o-geddon gets a look in, there’s a mention of the seven deadly sins, so I’m wondering if these will show up as boss battles, or at least NPCs. Vehicles, side activities and mayhem complete the roster, and obviously the team have learned that the levelled up locomotion in Saints Row IV was very useful, so they’ve added flight to help you get around faster here.
It all looks good, messy fun and more of what we’re used to, and there’s where my only concern lies… The last one got a little repetitive and seemed unnecessarily grindy at times. There’s clearly effort gone into the design of the game, but will it just be more of the same and fail to live up to the heights of Saints Row III? We’ll find out soon enough.
Gat Out Of Hell is developed by Volition and released by Deep Silver as a standalone expansion for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on the 30th January 2015, and included in the Saints Row IV: Re-Elected version coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the same day.
