One of the more surprising hits in recent times has to be PowerWash Simulator, a game built around the core of just jet washing stuff clean. Yes, it’s an extremely odd theme to base a game around, but as is the way with the sim genre the odder the source, the more addictive the gameplay loop. So addictive that the core game exceeded 3 million copies sold in just two months, with its brand of laid-back gaming. It’s a no brainer then that the game has seen a few DLC packs, but in an interesting twist Brighton and Hove based developers FuturLab have gone out of their way for some truly wild crossover events. These saw you getting to jet wash objects and locations from Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy 7, Sponge Bob Square Pants and Back to the Future. But the newest DLC takes the game to a whole new level…
PowerWash Simulator Warhammer 40,000 Special Pack sees you taking your trusty tools and having to clean some of the largest tools of war, the Imperium of Man has in its constant fight to claim victory of the God-Emperor. You play as a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus equipped with a MKII Aqua-Santica Arquebus power washer, stationed at the grand Forge Temple 48759 within Mars’ iconic Ring of Iron. Your job is simple – clean the Imperium’s killing machine in a hope to appease their machine spirits because they are truly battle damaged from countless skirmishes and remnants from rogue missions. Basically, you have to wash off all the gooey bits of Orc and Tyranids left behind. You’ll get to clean an Ultramarines Land Raider, Dark Angels Deathwing Redemptor Dreadnought, Astra Militarum Rogal Dorn Tank, House Hawkshroud Imperial Knight and a Blood Angels Thunderhawk.
PowerWash Simulator Warhammer 40,000 Special Pack starts out nice and easy with the iconic Land Raider taking 20 mins to get shining again, whereas the Thunderhawk will easily take you a few hours due to its scale. This is an element the DLC nails well in the overall scale of these steel behemoths, as you are very used to seeing them as little plastic models on a tabletop battlefield, whereas here you a dwarfed by the sheer size of them. Visually FuturLab have gone above and beyond crafting a Warhammer themed area to do your work in. Complete with not only how you look, but the washers you wield have a nice Warhammer restyling too. Plus, all the vehicles are packed with details showing a real level of passion and love for the subject as well. PowerWash Simulator Warhammer 40,000 Special Pack is a fun addition to the growing DLC pool, though beyond the six new jobs there isn’t much else here for the £6.50 asking price. That point may put some off, but if you’re a PowerWash Simulator or Warhammer fan there is more than enough value to be found here I feel with its unique look at the subject.
An Xbox review code of PowerWash Simulator Warhammer 40,000 Special Pack was provided by FuturLab’s PR team, and the DLC is out now on all platforms the base game is for around £6.50.
