Little to the Left: Seeing Stars

Little to the Left: Seeing Stars

Time for a belated spring clean.

Little to the Left Seeing Stars

2022’s A Little to the Left was a refreshing laid back puzzler that tested both your grey matter as well as your OCD.  So, it comes as no surprise that the game has seen a few pieces of DLC since its launch.  Little to the Left: Seeing Stars is the second “premium” DLC, and is all about multiple solutions, with all the puzzles having more than one way to tackle them.

Your goal is the same as the core game… to collect as many stars as you can, to unlock the next puzzle and there are now 100 new stars to bag this time too.  You’ll fold, flap, crush, join, stick, bounce, stack, strum and smash your way through an ever-challenging array of puzzles… 38 in total with each having a delightfully cozy vibe to them; from arranging miniature figures to stacking cups.  But it’s the multiple solutions side that the DLC nails perfectly, as no two puzzles will have you stumped at first, but the second, third or even fourth solution really requires you to often think out of the box.

One issue this system has is remembering which solution you’ve solved, and which you still need to work on, as the game doesn’t keep a record or show you what you have done.  This is not an issue if you’re playing a full level to completion, but if you’re someone who may go a few days or a few weeks between play, let’s say this will be a pain.  This could be easily overcome by having a screenshot, or image, of the completed solutions you have got at the side of the puzzle.  Also, if I am being honest too, the clunky controls from the core game are back here too with a vengeance.  With it more often than not feeling like its optimized for keyboard and mouse use, given the little movements needed at times, the controller just can’t land them first time… or the eightieth.

Little to the Left: Seeing Stars is a bite sized add-on, that brings with it a new layer of gameplay that makes the core game so addictive.  Yes, there are a few little issues and hangovers that maybe could have been patched… but if you’re a fan, it’s very much more of what you love.  And if you have completed the base game, and have worked your way through the Cupboards and Drawers DLC as well as the Daily Tidy challenge, then it’s well worth picking up to add some more life to the game.

An Xbox review copy of Little to the Left: Seeing Stars was provided by Secret Mode’s PR team, and the DLC is out now on Xbox, PC, PlayStation & Switch now for around £7.

The Verdict

8Great

The Good: Multiple solutions | Good number of levels added | More of the same

The Bad: Solutions completed option would be good | Controls are still not the best
