Shadow of Mordor Trophies & New Screens

Shadow of Mordor Feature

We’ve been keeping an eye on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor for a while here at Codec Moments, from what we’ve seen it’s shaping up to be something a bit special (well, we’re hoping so!).  Through this week at Gamescom, Warner Bros and Monolith have thrown out some new footage, some great screenshots, and the trophy/achievement list for the game.  All good information to continue building our excitement for this when it releases on the 30th September in the US (3rd October in the UK/EU) on the PlayStation 4/3 and Xbox One/360, and 2nd October for PC/Steam.  Here’s the synopsis of the game if you’ve not seen it before:

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor delivers a dynamic game environment where the player orchestrates their personal plan of vengeance as they bend Mordor to their will.  The game begins on the night of Sauron’s return to Mordor, as his Black Captains brutally execute the Rangers of the Black Gate.  Players become Talion, a ranger who loses his family and everything he holds dear, only to be returned from death by a mysterious Spirit of vengeance.  Based on the player’s actions with the in-game Nemesis System, every enemy encountered is distinct and can evolve to become a personal archenemy through the course of the game.  As Talion’s personal vendetta unfolds, players uncover the mystery of the Spirit that compels him, discover the origin of the Rings of Power and confront the ultimate nemesis.

The achievement list didn’t feature the corresponding trophy colour, so we’ve made a guess and if we’re wrong then let us know.  We think there are 22 Bronze/260 GP, 14 Silver/280 GP, 5 Gold/150 GP, and 1 Platinum which gives 42 trophies/690 GP in total (assuming there are no secret/hidden trophies they haven’t mentioned).

The list looks pretty comprehensive and hints that we’re going to see a decent amount of variety in gameplay, can’t wait to see how it’s all implemented.  If you’re wondering what the game will look like, have a scan through the images in the gallery below, or check out the YouTube channel for in-game action.
