Here at Codec Moments we have a soft spot for the Far Cry series. Every member of the team has completed Far Cry 3 with more than half of us having the platinum trophy and I still suffer from PTSD after accidentally starting a brush fire with a grenade, which killed my best friend in Far Cry 2. So it’s pretty fair to say that we are rather excited about Far Cry 4.
Ubisoft have launched a series of interactive trailers called “What are you made of?” to test player’s mettle across 4 scenarios. Ubisoft claim that there are 42 million different paths to choose across the four ‘rites of passage’ that will be released weekly until the game launches; we don’t have 100 days to try them all out, so we’ll take them at their word.
The first installment encourages you to fight for your life using instruments as varied as knives, guns, garden tools and various bits of animal; you can even unlock gifts for having a go. Check out the blurb below and go to www.farcry4.com to have a go yourself; don’t foget to let us know in the comments if you’ve managed all 42 million possible combinations!
Today, Ubisoft announced the launch of Far Cry® 4’s What are you made of? digital platform, an experiential website designed to test the player’s reactions in a world full of unpredictability. It offers a cinematic and immersive experience that will give each user a flavour of the wild and menacing world of Far Cry® 4.
Players will have to go through 4 different rites of passage:
– A deadly face-to-face encounter with « An eye for an eye »
– An impenetrable mind maze with « Rabbit hole »
– A hypnotic trance with « Mind Blossom »
– A blindfolded sound chase with « Escape »
Each rite, to be released on a weekly basis, is composed of interactive films in which the user has only a few seconds to make a decision and get out of the extreme situation they is trapped in. Each choice they makes triggers another sequence of events, pushing the user to make another choice and so on and so forth…
In total, the digital platform can create up to 42 million different routes and it would require up to 100 days to explore all these different combinations.
At the end of each rite, the user’s choices are analysed with a specific algorithm that determines their personality and grants them access to exclusive content onFar Cry® 4 via Uplay.
“We are looking forward to seeing the reaction of fans. This interactive campaign really puts the player at the centre of the experience offering a new and more intense approach to the game and its universe”, said Guillaume Carmona, EMEA Marketing Director. “This platform will allow each fan to live a totally different experience. That’s the beauty of a game like Far Cry 4 as players can actually create their own path, just like with this website. Each decision matters and conditions the outcome.”
