4 In February – The End

That’s it, it’s over.  February has come and gone and we made the effort to clear some of our gaming backlog in the four weeks of the month.  It’s been an interesting 4 In February challenge set by the Joystiq team, and we wish them all the best with whatever happens for them next.  So how did we get on with it at Codec Moments?  Ultimately it doesn’t actually matter what the result is, if we made then YAY!/if we didn’t then MEH!, but taking part is what counts.  There’s no punishment… if you don’t count the abuse we’ll be giving each other via Hangouts if we’ve failed.

Roger – Tomb Raider, LA Noire, God of War II, Saints Row IV

Well, here we are on week 4 of the #4iF Challenge and I have failed you.  I have failed you my dear readers.  More importantly I have failed myself (as if you care).  I set off on this challenge feeling rather confident in my ability to grind out some Platinums, but my efforts were no match for my sheer lack of free time.  As a recap, things started off strong with many solo multiplayer sessions on Tomb Raider PS3 and a quick blaze through the campaign for the conversation trophy, and I found myself with new shiny Platinum.  Feeling invincible I then decided to split my time between God of War 2 on Vita and LA Noire on PS3.

Anyone mention Saints Row IV? Uh-huh, not us…

I did make some good progress on finishing the story of GoW, but to be honest, I made real good progress on LA Noire.  In my efforts to collect all 95 of the cars, collect all 50 Gold Film reels, drive 1941 miles and incur over $48,000 in debt in a case mission, I completed all but the latter.  I was working on that last darn trophy last night before sleep, and as the hours waxed late, I got so close to completing my goal.  As luck would have it, my tired self drove my fire truck the wrong way through a gas pump and killed myself, restarting all progress.  I will have the Platinum tonight, but it is the month of March.  Then again, I didn’t really start the challenge until a few days into February, so maybe it still should count.  You decide readers!

Andy – Far Cry 4, Tomb Raider, LEGO Batman 3, Papers Please

After a few hours of ‘working’ on my iPad in the week, I managed to polish off the iOS version of ‘Papers, Please’ and earned myself the ‘Hired Gun’ achievement…  Seriously, put a rifle in my hand and tell me which way the pointy end should go and I’m all yours.  Sadly I didn’t fare so well with LEGO Batman 3 and the real world got the better of me; it was a question of close, but no cigar.  The game is great, but honestly I’m a console gamer and the prospect of playing on my laptop is just too hard to get my head around for short bouts of gaming.

So what’s next then, More 4 March? #M4M

Matt –  Dying Light, Murdered: Soul Suspect, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, The Walking Dead Season 2

After hearing the efforts of my compadres, I tip my hat to them and commend their efforts… all the while grinning smugly because I managed to get through my list.  With 11 hours remaining I polished off the story for Shadow of Mordor, and removed it from my pile of shame.  It’s probably the one I feel most guilty about not doing sooner because I was so looking forward to it when it released, and I’ve only played it in fits and starts over the last 3 months.  Still got a load of the DLC left though, and that might be the challenge for March.

Shadow of Mordor

The whole 4 In February challenge has been great to take part in.  For the first couple of weeks I didn’t think I’d be making it to my goal by the end of the month, but hitting it has removed those nagging feelings from the back of my mind that I’d wasted cash on games.  I’d definitely be up for doing this again next year and getting rid of some of the titles I’m likely to back up before then.
